1. Peter1 Gruber/Groover Sr. was born Abt. 1762 in Calder, District of Merburg, Germany, and died July 11, 1841 in Marietta, Cobb Co, Georgia. He married Sarah/Susanna ? 1783 in Orange Co, North Carolina. She was born 1767 in North Carolina, and died 1836.

Peter Groover ( 1762-1841 ) came to America during the American Revolution as a German ( Hessian ) mercenary. He evidently was captured or defected and joined the North Carolina Militia in 1780. He fought with the patriots until the end of the war and remained in America after the Revolutionary War ended. He was a resident of Orange Co, North Carolina where he was connected with the German Reformed Church. About 1813 he migrated to Franklin Co, Georgia. He passed away in Cobb Co, Georgia in 1841. Peter is buried at the Antioch Methodist Church in Marietta, Georgia.
